Marilyn E. Moreno
Marilyn is a Certified Family Law Specialist who has been practicing in the area of family law since 1982. She is a graduate of Stanford Law School. She was selected by San Jose Magazine from 1999 through 2007 as one of the best family law lawyers in San Jose. (San Jose Magazine ceased publication in 2007.) She was listed as one of the top 50 female “Superlawyers” in Northern California at www.superlawyers.com.
Karl comes to The Moreno Family Law Firm with a diverse background. He was an intelligence officer in the Air Force for five years and also worked five years as a high school math teacher. He has a Masters Degree in creative writing from Newcastle University in England. After graduating from law school at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, he worked in civil litigation doing intellectual property law and as an Assistant Federal Defender.
David has been practicing as a family law lawyer exclusively for over five years. He has conducted seven trials on a variety of issues including ownership of residential property, domestic violence, custody and spousal support with outstanding results. David specializes in custody and domestic violence issues, but is well versed in support and property division as well. David has filed hundreds of motions and made hundreds of court appearances, and has an excellent track record of settling cases in an efficient and cost effective manner.
David graduated from UCLA for both law school and a B.A. in history. As an undergraduate, he made the Dean’s List five times. David is an Eagle Scout.
In his free time, David enjoys exploring the great outdoors; ask him about his favorite hiking and camping recommendations. David is also an avid reader and an amateur gourmet chef and baker of fine breads.
Michael H. Moreno
Michael Hector Moreno comes to the Moreno Family Law Firm as a bright young star emerging from the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office. Michael spent four years as a Deputy District Attorney where he built a glowing reputation in the criminal courthouse.
Notably, Michael spent over a year as one of the family law lawyers on the Family Violence Unit, a unit that solely prosecutes cases involving domestic violence. While on this team, Michael conducted twelve jury trials in one year, a reported record for number of trials on this team in a single year. For his efforts, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office awarded Michael with the Robert L. Webb Award, an award handed out once a year to one prosecutor who has demonstrated outstanding trial advocacy.
Additionally, while at the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, Michael conducted hundreds of hearings and evidentiary proceedings including motions and preliminary examinations. Overall, Michael has successfully conducted 22 jury trials.
Michael grew up in San Jose and graduated from Valley Christian High School. From there, Michael attended Azusa Pacific University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. While studying at Azusa Pacific University, Michael played football for the Cougars. In 2015, Michael graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law. There, Michael received two awards for obtaining the highest grade in the class, one of which was in Evidence, a class that would prove to be highly beneficial in Michael’s future career.
